Benign: Non-cancerous.

Benign tumor: A lump or mass that is not cancer.

Biopsy: Removal of a piece of tissue to see if it contains cancer.

BRCA1 & BRCA2:
Human genes that, when present in an abnormal form, increase a person's risk of developing breast and ovarian cancer.
Breast cancer: The uncontrolled growth of abnormal breast cells. This is one of the most common cancers affecting women. Early detection through regular breast self-exams and regular clinical breast exams and mammograms has shown excellent results in combating breast cancer.

Breast Disease: Any one or number of abnormalities of the breast, either non-cancerous fibrocystic disease, mammary duct ectasia, ductal papilloma, fat necrosis or another.

Breast lumps: Any swelling, unusual lump or hardness in the breast. Women and men with breast lumps are strongly urged to make an appointment with a doctor. Most are not cancerous.
