Our Goals
MSPN supports the development, implementation,
and evaluation of a sustainable and robust infrastructure that:
- Promotes cancer awareness
- Launches cancer control activities
- Researches minority and medically underserved communities
Focusing on community, church, and media-based outreach activities, the Network aims to change the knowledge, attitudes and practices of target groups regarding preventive care, cancer, and clinical trials. Through pilot studies, grant writing workshops, and information sessions for providers, the Network strives to increase the pool of researchers studying cancers where disparities exist. Concomitantly, the Network works to increase physicians' knowledge of clinical trials, and increase their participation in and referrals of patients into cancer prevention and treatment clinical research.
